Cloud Computing - Technology of future!
December 2, 2016
Some people say Cloud Computing is a new era in Information Technology world. Just like the times when a new type of computer has appeared in a market, best known by the name "Personal Computer" (thanks to Apple).
You may wonder how the Cloud can affect the world. Also you may argue that in case of Personal Computers, the affect has touched every home, every person. That was the main reason of its success. But what is so attractive in Cloud?
Let's talk about below...
I found an interesting explanation of Cloud on The Globe and Mail:
"When children look up at clouds they imagine all kinds of shapes - animals, people or planets. When computer scientists think of clouds, they conjure up something that may look like the data centre of the future.
Cloud computing is essentially a large-scale distributed computing system that taps into the vast resources of the Internet. Individual PCs access the "cloud" of data rather than their own data centre and rent products or services such as extra storage space or applications from companies like Amazon.com or Google.
Some observers believe businesses will eventually run no servers of their own, but merely rent access to a larger vendor's cloud of computer resources."
Very interesting, isn't it? Basically you can see the trend where companies start using Cloud instead of hosting their own servers. In this way, they will have an opportunity to use cloud computing's power in terms of process speed and effectiveness.
Secondly, they will be free of holding a separate technical staff who is responsible for servers maintenance & support. Also, no need to have a special rooms or mini data centers in office in order to locate all these hardware "cupboards".
All they need to do is to order and set up all required hardware in a "cloud". Even if they need to extend the resources at some point, again no need to bring additional servers, they can do it easily via predefined web applications.
Convenient and easy!
"But that's companies, what about ordinary home PC users?", you may say. Yep, cloud is more affecting business at this level. But how those business related to the same users?
Most of the internet services and applications people spend time on PC is provided for free or for some price by the business mentioned above. As their services smoothly moves to data centres with a great resource capabilities, most of their current desktop based software also transfers into "online". For end users it means this: The role of their PC in terms of computing and resources will mostly switch to simply receive data streamings from "clouds" with high data transfer speed.
This is a great impact for the market of Mobile devices and Tablets. For the "hybrid" of PC and Tablet like Microsoft Surface, it is even better. No surprise if in near future Personal Computers will move to the side of the market leaving more and more pieces of cake for simpler internet oriented devices.
Listening to music, watching movies and videos, working with spreadsheets, documents, all will be done via internet and data centres in clouds. Terrifying capabilities.
